As I was reading through old CGM posts this afternoon, I realized that this time last year I wrote a post listing my top ten favorite Christmas songs.
Crazy to think that it’s been a whole year! Anyways, I thought it would be fun to compare last years list to this years and see what y’all think. Are you ready? Here.we.go!
My top ten list from 2010:
10. “Silent Night” – Josh Groban

~ Even though Josh is a little fugly, this song gives me the chills.

9. “Have A Holly Jolly Christmas” – Burl Ives

~ I remember dancing to this song as a little girl while decorating our Christmas tree.

8. “Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire “- Nat King Cole

~ Nat….is where it’s at.

7. “Silver and Gold” – Burl Ives

~ This is one of my dad’s favorite songs. Whenever this song would come on the radio, he would immediately start singing/humming along. It always brought a smile to my face.

6. “Run Rudolph Run” – Chuck Berry

~ This song reminds me of the movie Home Alone, when the family is running through the airport. Now that I stop and think, this song does make you want to run. Catchy, Chuck. Very, Catchy.

5. “Jingle Bell Rock” – Bobby Helms

~Remember the scene from Mean Girls? SMACK!

4. “Most Wonderful Day Of The Year” – Burl Ives

~ Okay, I was a little mad that Glee did a cover of this song because you cannot mess with Burl Ives. But, I am warming up to the remix. This song comes from the movie, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” all time best Christmas movie EVER.

3. “All I Want For Christmas Is You”  – Mariah Carey

~ When this song is playing, it calls for an immediate dance party. Period.

2. “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)” – The Chipmunks

~ “Me, I want a huuuuuula hoop”…….still cracks me up.

1. “White Christmas” – Bing Crosby

~ Need I say more…
______________________________________________________________________________
My top ten list for 2011:
10.  “Haven’t Met You Yet” – Michael Buble
– Let’s face it, the man can sing and he’s good looking. What more do you want?
9. “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” – Burl Ives
– I grin ear to ear every time I hear this song.
8. “O Holy Night” – Celine Dion
– Yes, I realize I just put Celine Dion in my top ten, but this song will make you cry and want to hug a homeless man.
7. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” – Brenda Lee
– This song reminds of the scene in Home Alone when Kevin is trying to keep the burglars from breaking into his house. Ya know, the scene where a large cut out of Michael Jordan is put on a train so it looks like someone is walking around the house. It’s brilliant.
6. “Baby It’s Cold Outside” – She and Him
– I love the new version of this song.
5. “Silver and Gold” – Burl Ives
– Not only is this song a classic, but I think Apple should have gone with Burl Ives voice instead of Suri’s.

4. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” – She and Him
– Just go buy the album. You’ll thank me later.
3. “Jingle Bell Rock” – Bobby Helms
– I think if my life had a theme song this would be it.
2. “All I Want for Christmas Is You!” – Mariah Carey
– As much as I loved the Glee cover of this song, nothing compares to the original. Mariah has it going on!
1. “White Christmas” – Bing Crosby
– Dude, I gotta give it to Bing. “White Christmas” is probably the greatest Christmas song of all time.
What are some of your favorite Christmas songs?
