Hi friends.

First of all, I wanted to say thank you for your touching comments on Mondays post. This week was an emotional roller roaster, and knowing that all of you were keeping the Grier family in your thoughts and prayers made us feel truly blessed.  So thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Yesterday was the memorial service and, as I mentioned on Monday, Granny was not one to gab about herself or allow anyone to make a fuss over her.  In her final days she wrote down specific instructions requesting a simple memorial service where people could “say nice things”.  She wanted to have the service at Larksfield where all of her friends could attend without much trouble, and she requested a single red rose be displayed as a symbol of her love for life and loved ones.

The auditorium was filled with family, and friends of all ages. Granny touched many lives so it came as no surprise when a 100+ seated auditorium was left with standing room only. There were tears of sadness, bellies full of laughter, but most of all, admiration. Admiration for a woman that spent 93 years on this Earth helping others and never asking for anything in return. It was a true celebration.
Over the past couple of days, we searched through a sea of pictures. Granny kept photo albums full of pictures of their travels, birthday parties, and family gatherings.
Below is my favorite picture of her. She had a wicked sense of humor and I think this picture best represents her playful personality. Also, is that not the cutest bathing suit?

Granny will be missed, but not forgotten. Her memory will remain alive through stories about flying on the Concord, making He Man sandwiches, and caring for her loved ones.
She was full of life and for that, she will always be remembered.
