Let the training begin!

I am either a complete idiot or just plain crazy, but I am officially training for my second marathon and Mr. B is training for his first. Last weeks  training was a little rough for both of us. Getting used to running in the heat, fitting in social activities, and basically re-training our bodies to run long distance is tough.

Like I told Mr. B this morning, we just need to be patient and everything will come back to us. Or at least I hope.

Here’s what our week looked like:
Monday:
Me – 5 miles in Wash Park. I ran after work and tried not to fall over dead from the heat!  #*%@ the heat.
Mr. B – Rest

Tuesday:
Me – 3 miles

Mr. B – 3 miles

This was our first attempt at morning running. We were up and out the door by 6am….High Five! It was quick and easy but freaking 75 at 6am…do wha?

Wednesday:
Me – Rest. My quads and groin hurt from sprinting in kickball. Do girls even have a groin?
Mr. B – 4 miles. He said they were a tough 4 miles but it finally cooled off which made the run somewhat manageable.

Thursday:
Me – Rest. Still lame. Still sore from kickball.
Mr. B – Mountain biked in Fort Collins for two hours.

Friday:
Me – 3 miles and an hour and half hike at Red Rocks!
Mr. B – Rest. Although, does standing around an entire day volunteering at a golf tournament count as exercise?

Saturday:
Me – Rest
Mr. B – Rest

Sunday:
Me – 6 miles

Mr. B – 6 miles

Okay, let’s get real here for a moment. Those six miles were atrocious. We both came to the realization that getting back to where we were when we ran The Big D is going to take awhile. Plus, we didn’t make it out the door until 9am and by that time it was HOT. Are you seeing how our laziness is getting us into trouble? We’re going to have to make some changes folks!

Total miles:
Me – 17 miles
Mr. B – 13 miles + mountain bike ride

These next two weeks of our training will be on our own. Mr. B is traveling to New Mexico for two weeks! AHHH! Okay, breathe.

I am crossing my fingers that next week will be better. If not, we’ve got issues folks.

P.S. Thanks to Miz Gibson for letting me borrow her outline for training! You’re a BAMF!!
