Recovering Tuesday

After we arrived home late last night from our insane six hour car ride, I was an absolute crazy person. I was literally running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to unpack and get ready for the week.

I was pulling ski pants and t-shirts out of duffel bags and shoving them in the washer. Sauteing chicken breasts to put in my lunch for the week. Blogging. Paying bills. Making grocery lists. I was a mess.

But the funny thing….

All that stress and anxiety was a waste of time. I hate when that happens.

As much as I thought today would be a complete disaster, it wasn’t. My day turned out to be surprisingly pleasant. Work wasn’t stressful. I ran 6 miles in fifty degree weather and I made a stress free dinner for Mr. B.

I really need to learn how to calm the f’ down sometimes…ya know?

Dinner was delicious I might say.

Tomato bisque soup from Whole Foods with a lemony white bean arugula salad  to go alongside. Delish.

And to finish the night off. Detox tea.

I borrowed this concoction from Ms. Julian Michaels. I don’t remember where I found it but if you want something that will take care of that bloating icky feeling this will do the trick. (Warning: husbands/boyfriends may run if they see you making this drink.)

Start with these ingredients:

Lemon, juice from half
Organic Cranberry Juice, about 1/3 of a cup
One bag of dandelion root tea

(*this is the stripped down version that I think is way more doable.)

Start by filling a coffee mug with water. Place mug in microwave and heat water on high for two minutes.  Take mug out of microwave and place one dandelion root tea bag in hot water, cover and steep for 15 minutes.

In the meantime, squeeze lemon and cranberry juice into a pitcher. Once the tea has steeped, discard bag and pour the dandelion tea in the pitcher. Fill the pitcher with water. Cover and chill. Drink a small glass before dinner. This tea can be kept for up to two weeks.

I love recovery days.
Do you have detox days? If so, what are some of your tricks?
