Three years ago Mr. B and I hosted Easter dinner in our tiny loft.

Somehow we managed to squeeze twelve individuals around our kitchen table without killing one another. In a way it reminded me of the scene from the Disney movie Aladdin where the Genie describes his living conditions inside the lamp, “Itty-bitty living space.”

Even though we ate decadent prime rib while trying not to bump elbows, we still managed to come together as a group and embrace the spirit of Easter. That, and drink a lot of wine.

This Sunday the Lehman’s will be hosting our village for Easter dinner. Since we don’t have immediate family living in Denver, the village becomes our next of kin. Because isn’t that what Easter is all about? Family? Okay, and celebrating JC! I didn’t forget, people.

Anyways, whether you’re hosting dinner at your house this Sunday or looking to bring a new dish to an Easter celebration, I have gathered a few of my favorite recipes that I’m sure will please a small or large crowd:

Cocktail: What’s Easter without a little bubbly? This refreshing cocktail screams “spring has sprung” with all the citrus flavors.

Appetizer: I love these particular recipes as appetizers because they are easy to assemble and taste delicious! The Celery Root Soup is the perfect amuse bouche.

Side Dish: Traditionally people prefer scalloped potatoes or green been casserole as a side for Easter dinner. But I say, mix it up!  Add a little variety next to that giant ham.

– Ginger Roasted Carrots with Mellow Miso Dressing

Main Dish: Whether you’re planning a brunch or dinner, Shrimp and Grits are a great alternative to a maple glazed home or lemon-thyme turkey.

– Shrimp and Grits

Dessert: I am a huge fan of chocolate cake with green-dyed coconut shavings and jelly beans on top. My mom used to make this dessert every year when we were growing up. However, if you can’t muster up the strength to bake a cake, try making these Double Chocolate Espresso Cookies. Who says a couple of cookies in a bowl of vanilla ice cream can’t be just as fun? I rest my case.
